Terms of Service

Last updated: July 5, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the DecodeAnyVin website at decodeanyvin.com (the "Service"), operated by DecodeAnyVin ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

DecodeAnyVin provides a free online Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) decoder. The Service decodes 17-character VINs according to ISO 3779 and manufacturer-specific rules to reveal vehicle specifications such as make, model year, assembly plant, and engine type. Supplemental data such as recall notices and factory build information may be provided for certain brands where available.

The Service is provided for informational purposes only. It does not provide vehicle history reports, title checks, ownership records, accident history, odometer readings, or lien status.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:

We reserve the right to block access from IP addresses that violate these rules.

3. Accuracy and Disclaimer

While we strive to provide accurate decode results, we make no warranties — express or implied — regarding the completeness, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose of any decode result. Manufacturer encoding schemes change over time, and not every VIN position can be decoded with certainty for every brand and model year.

Always verify critical vehicle details independently before making a purchase, insurance, or registration decision. A VIN decode is not a substitute for a professional vehicle inspection or a comprehensive vehicle history report from services such as the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS).

DecodeAnyVin is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any vehicle manufacturer. All manufacturer names, trademarks, and logos referenced on this site are used solely for identification purposes.

4. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, databases, and editorial content, is owned by DecodeAnyVin and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission.

Vehicle manufacturer names, logos, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used on this site solely for identification purposes.

5. Third-Party Services and Advertising

The Service may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and other third-party advertising partners. We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements or the practices of advertising partners. Your interaction with advertisers is solely between you and the advertiser.

The Service may also link to third-party websites, including government resources such as the NHTSA. We do not control and are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.

6. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which describe how we collect, use, and protect your information.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, DecodeAnyVin and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to losses resulting from reliance on decode results, purchase of a misrepresented vehicle, or interruption of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, for a free service, is zero).

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DecodeAnyVin from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service.

9. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms by posting a revised version on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
